Deviations from the Mean

Deviations from the Mean are differences between each data point in a set and the mean (average) of that set. They can be used to measure variation in the data, showing how spread out or closely clustered the data points are around the mean. There are  limitations though to using average deviations, which introduces the need for concepts like variance and standard deviation.
